Hawaii

For many years, my parents have been talking about going to Hawaii. The key word is "talk". Even though they had a time share, they weren't planning a trip or making reservations.

At the beginning of this year, I put together a list of states left for skydiving. Our hope was to finish them all by the end of 2016. We decided to knock out the "cheap" states during 2015 and save Hawaii for 2016. So we could celebrate Price's high school graduation.

In January, I lit a fire under my dad. I told him that we'd be going to Hawaii in 2016 - with out them. He said they definitely wanted to go and worked on finding a place for us to stay. The only time share he could find was on the Big Island. We couldn't skydive on the Big Island, but we wanted to visit the volcano. It didn't really matter where we stayed. Either way, we'd have to take at least one hopper flight.

I tried to figure out the best way to get our tickets without breaking the bank. Both Matt and I applied for Delta American Express cards and received mileage rewards. With their latest promotion, i received 50,000 miles! The ticket to Hawaii was 55,000!

Total for 3 round trip tickets to Hawaii from Richmond - $1,268! Not bad! Woo hoo!
