Statue in El Paso, TexasIt wasn't even two! With so much free time on our hands, we weren't sure what to do. We started with a walk over to the airport to look for a New Mexico spoon.

Along the way, Matt pointed out a huge statue of a horse. When I turned to look at it, my right foot slipped over the sidewalk edge and I twisted my ankle. GRRRRR!!!!

Matt said I should start wearing ankle braces every where I go. He's hilarious. Hahaha.

I didn't let the pain stop me and we continued our walk. At the gift shop inside the airport, they had plenty of Texas memorabilia, but nothing for New Mexico. Sigh...

On the way back, we stopped and took some pictures of the statue. This statue known as The Equestrian was made by artist John Sherrill Houser and his son Ethan Taliesin Houser. The monument is 36-feet high and is supposedly the world's largest bronze equestrian statue. It was ginormous!

When we were back at the hotel, Matt wanted to do stuff on his computer so I went out to get a pedicure. For the first time in ages, it felt like we were on vacation. Most of our trips are so rushed that we don't get to do much relaxing. I found a nail salon not far from my hotel - Professional Nails Salon & Spa. During my pedicure, I used my phone to catch up on the news, but I couldn't do much because my battery was dying. I shifted my focus to my nail technician. He was a college student at the university majoring in biology.

ToesKhang was very nice, but he managed to make my cracking heel bleed. I also think that he didn't do a very good job shaping my nails. Oh well...not biggy! It was relaxing, and fun. Afterward, I went back to the hotel and put my phone on the charger.

What next? We were both starving so we decided to go back to the Cattle Baron. I was apprehensive about leaving my phone. What if the horse farm called while we were out? I don't know why I worry about stuff like this. I could call them back after dinner.

The restaurant was not crowded and we were seated quickly, but no one came to serve us. Eventually, Matt got up and went to talk to one of the waiters to see if he could get our waitress. In lieu of tracking her/him down, Gabriel waited on us himself. Instead of ordering beef again, Matt got salmon and I ordered chicken. The food was fantastic and so was our service!

I couldn't get back to my phone fast enough. I was so excited! I picked it up off the night stand. No calls...dislke! I was starting to regret leaving a message. We could have just landed there, hopped in the car and left. We'd only be on their property for a few minutes. They might have never even noticed. Now, they have my name and my website address. Ugh! I am so dumb!

It was 5:45. If we left the hotel right away, we could drive back over to the farm and arrive before sunset. I could knock on the door and see if they'd let us land there. What's the worst thing that could happen? Hmmm...I could get shot? This is Texas after all! I guess that's a chance I'm going to have to take!
