When we got home from our trip on Sunday (4/12), it was 11:30 at night. We were both exhausted so we left everything in the car.  On Monday, I started bringing things into the house. While we were traveling, we put most or our receipts and souvenirs in a large brown envelope.  If we didn't get a receipt for something, we made a point of writing on the envelope.

I took the contents out of the envelope and put the spoons and key chains on my desk. Later in the day, I moved the spoons over to Matt's desk. When he finally looked at them, we realized one was missing - Kentucky. I figured it must be somewhere in our luggage.

After I finished emptying our clothes bags, I looked through our camera bag, our snack bag, and our gear bag. Still no spoon. I went back through our receipts to make sure we had purchased one. We did. We bought it when we were driving in to Kentucky on Saturday night. The receipt included a Kentucky key chain which was on the desk with the others. Where was the spoon?

Most of the week, I was busy writing. I did spend some time each day looking for the spoon. I check the glove box of my car.  Looked under the seats.  I even looked through the blankets and pillows we took on our trip. Nothing!  I checked and recheck my purse.  Where on earth could it be?

Yesterday (4/19), I looked through my car again. I thought for sure I would find it. After I had no luck, I decided I would order one from eBay. I also ordered the spoons for Kansas and Michigan. Two other states we've visited, that didn't have spoons for sale.

Last night, we were watching television and Matt asked me if I looked in the passenger door. At some point on our trip, I had put something in the door. He made a point of telling me it wasn't a good place to put anything because it might accidentally get thrown away. As soon as we finished watching Bones, I went outside in the rain and checked. Nothing! I thought for sure it would be there.

Just a little while ago, I went upstairs to take a picture of the Missouri state spoon for my blog entry. While I was up there, I noticed something down behind my desk. It was the spoon! One of the cats knocked it off!  Mystery solved! I wonder if they did it on purpose? Silly cats!F
