Woo hoo!  I had a stand up landing!  Now, I had to wait my turn for debriefing.  I looked at my watch - it was almost 8:00 PM! So late!  I wasn't going to get to Frostburg until midnight. At least, I had my skydiving adrenaline to keep me awake. Finally, it was my turn. Nick started with the usual, "So, what do you remember about the skydive?

In some ways, I hate this question. I haven't done this enough to be able to process everything that happens during the jump. I haven't been able to slow down time. I imagine after I've jumped fifty times, I'll be able to remember more.  I thought the exit went well. I completed all my tasks. I tried to relax. I waved off and pulled on time. And I landed on my feet! After two butt landings, that seemed worth mentioning.

Nick wrote in my logbook.  Dive Plan: CAT C PART II - One Jumpmaster
Awesome Skydive. Relax signal after 3 PRT's. (Practice Ripcord Touches)
Good release and complete solo fall all skydive. Solo w/o (wave off) and pull @ 5500'
Good CC (canopy control) and stand up landing near target - 10 m! Go to D. falls fast Nick K - D25310

He used a piece of paper to show me how my body turned in freefall. He said he let go of me right away and my body started turning very slowly to the right. I continued for about 180 degrees and then just stopped and the rest of freefall I didn't move. Awesome!

One of the guys asked, "Has anyone seen Nate?" He had his first self-supervised jump and left the plane before me. "He should be back by now." It was starting to get dark. They left in pickup trucks to go and look for him. At some point, a voice came across the radio, "We can hear him, but we can't see him."

I had to leave. I felt horrible. I wanted to stay to make sure he was going to be ok, but I still had a four hour drive ahead of me. I told them to tell Nate to give me a call. I wanted the full story.
