Our day started with breakfast at the Hampton Inn located in Siloam Springs, Arkansas.  We did our first jump at Skydive Skyranch and then drove over to Cushing, Arkansas to jump at the Oklahoma Skydiving Center.  We both agreed that Oklahoma is one of the most beautiful states we've seen. Two drop zones down and three to go.  We were off to a good start!  After we packed our rigs in Oklahoma and loaded the car, we were both very hungry.

Matt check Google to see if he could find a place to eat.  There were a number of restaurants not far way.  We ended up having dinner at Steer Inn.  I went with a fajita salad and Matt got the buffet. Whenever Matt gets a the buffet, the restaurant always cashes in.  He NEVER over eats.  I intentionally do not get the buffet because I don't want to be tempted by 35 different types of yummy goodness.  It's safer for me to just order something off the menu because I don't have Matt's self control when it comes to yummy goodness!

When we left the restaurant in Cushing, it was just after 7:00 PM. We programmed in our next destination - Air Capital Drop Zone. I traded messages with the DZO earlier in the day.  If we wanted to skydive in Kansas on Saturday, our best bet was to get their early - 8:00 AM.

Fortunately, Oklahoma Skydiving Center and Air Capital are only 148 miles apart. Google maps gave us an eta of 9:30. Perfect! We stopped at a few places looking for a Kansas state spoon for Matt's collection, but we didn't find any.

Strange Glowing TowerAs we got closer to Derby, we looked for a Hampton Inn. Last's nice room was very clean and it would be nice to get something comparable. I was very excited when we found a Hampton Inn right in Derby!  I called and was quoted a rate of $119.00 plus tax for a queen bed.

It didn't seem like much of a discount because our total with tax last night was only $116.45 AND we stayed in a KING room with a KING sized shower and everything! While Matt and I were discussing the rates, he reminded me that it was Friday night.

By the time we got to the hotel, we were both very tired. Neither one of us had gotten adjusted to central time.  Before I went to the desk, I took a luggage cart outside so Matt could start unloading the car. Off in the distance, we saw this strange green glowing tower.

When I was waiting to check in, the guy behind the counter was telling a customer that the price for his last queen room was going to be over $135. I was very happy that I had called ahead! The clerk made a point of telling me that I got a really good deal. He was trying to make friendly conversation, but  I just wanted the room keys. Even though it was only 9:40, it felt much later.

Given the cost of the room, we were a little disappointed. The air conditioner was making a strange sound, and when I tried to fix it, the front fell off. Our room was at the end of the hall next to some equipment room.  From time to time, we could hear the sound of water running.  Oh well...too late to change rooms now.  After an episode of "Friends" we turned out the lights at 10:30.  We had to get up early in the morning!
