There was no rest for the weary travelers!  We were both still on CA time and found it hard to wind down and fall asleep.  It was around 1:30 AM on Tuesday morning before I drifted off.

There was so much to do on Tuesday!  I was supposed to drive to Winchester to get Emma, but she called me at 9:00 AM to ask if she could stay with Lisa for a few more days.  I welcomed the change to my itinerary!  We had some breakfast and then Matt left MD and to go down to our VA house.  I spent all day on Tuesday packing boxes and cleaning.  Matt got back late on Tuesday night.  We spent a few hours packing before we gave up and went to bed.

On Wednesday, I had the first part of my root canal.  For some strange reason, I metabolize the numbing medicine three times faster than most people.  It wore off suddenly.  The endodontist and his assistant were both shocked when I practically shot out of the chair.  They made a special note in my file so when I go back (on Monday the 28th) they will be sure to give me multiple shots.

The appointment didn't take that long, but I was in some major pain when they were done.  Unfortunately for me, I was not able to take any other than Advil because I had so much work to do around the house.  I spent the rest of the day packing boxes and getting things ready for the moving truck.

On Thursday, I dropped off Matt at the U-Haul and went back to the house.  I picked up some bagels along the way because I had recruited Alec and Amanda to help (my son and his girl friend).  We all had breakfast together and then started packing the truck.  It was so hot!  We crammed everything we could into the truck.  Unfortunately, there were still many things left in the house.  Matt left Germantown at around 2:00 and I stayed at the house for another hour.  I tried to find as many things as I could to fill up my van.

Matt was hoping to make it to the HOV lanes before 3:30.  Of course, that did NOT happen as traffic was very bad.  He didn't get to our VA house until around 6:00 PM.  I ran into traffic also....grrrrrrrrr...  I was so hungry!  We didn't have lunch.  I was starving and I started to get the shakes.  I frantically looked through my car for something to eat and found an unopened box of chocolates.  They were supposed to be a gift for Lisa. Oh well...better than nothing!  I opened them and ate two pieces of candy.

It was close to 7:30 when I finally arrived at the new house.  Matt had recruited his cousin Logan to help us.  The three of us made quick work of the unloading process.  Matt was also starving and he had a piece of the chocolate candy too!  We dropped Logan off at his house in Montpelier and grabbed some Chinese for dinner.

On Friday...it was back to Maryland!  Lisa, Joe and Jack were meeting us for lunch with Emma.  I gave Lisa and Joe the T-shirts we bought for them in Yosemite.  I told Lisa the story about the chocolates and gave her the opened box.  We had a good laugh about it.  I told her that a friend of mine suggested that I buy a new box of chocolates, but I knew she'd rather have the opened ones that came with the funny story.  Of course, Lisa completely agreed!  I'm sure that there are some other opened boxes of chocolates in our future.  This might be a new tradition.

It was a nice treat for me that Alec and Amanda also joined us.  After lunch, Matt put the cats in his car and headed off to VA.  He was hoping to make a quick trip.  Yet again, the traffic sucked!  It took him nearly four hours to get home with the cats.  Lisa and Joe helped me get some bigger things in the car before they set out on their way to Western MD.  They agreed to drop off some wine bottles for my dad.  They are such great friends!

I worked my butt off cleaning the basement and cramming my van full, but I still didn't get everything done!  I needed a break and Emma was tried of helping me.  She wanted some attention.  I hadn't seen her since we left for the honeymoon.  I figured I could take her to an early movie - 6:30 and manage to get back to VA by 10:30.  These days...most kid movies are about 90 or 100 minutes.  It wasn't until after we bought the tickets that we discovered the move was about 150 minutes!

On the plus side, we both enjoyed the movie!  Emma absolutely loved it!  I dropped her off at her dad's house at around 9:10.  Ran back to the G-town house to take out the trash and make sure it was locked up tight.  I set out on the road for the VA house at around 9:30 PM.

For the first time in months, I made the drive WITHOUT hitting traffic!  Yay!  It took just around 2 hours!
