My canopy was perfect! I just looked up at it. Wow! No malfunctions. It looks great! I looked at my altitude. This is so cool! Hmmm...where I am? It's so beautiful up here! I absolutely love this part! Look - over there's the drop zone!

Check altitude - 3,500 feet. Plenty of time to get into the landing pattern.

I looked up at the canopy again - it's so pretty - pink and purple. It was a girly parachute. Emma would like it. Then, I had a very important revelation. Oh...oh...oh...no one is driving! I'm supposed to be steering this thing! I had completely forgotten that I was in charge!  I unlocked the brakes. I flared and made sure I could steer the canop. Look left, pull left toggle, turn left. Look right, pull right toggle, turn right.  Check my altitude. Flare

At about 2,000 feet, I was pretty close to where I needed to be. I continued to practice steering the canopy. At 1,500 feet, Nick came across the radio and told me to start my landing pattern. He gave me a little radio coaching on the last part of my landing pattern and told me that he would advise me when it was time to flare.&

As I approached, I kept thinking, "I want to flare, I want to flare", but I knew he'd tell me when it was time. He told me to get in the PLF position, and then flare. As instructed, I flared, and I ended up landing on my butt. What a great skydive! He came over and gave me a congratulatory hug!
