Before I started skydiving, I had broken my right ankle 3 times. While I was working on my license, I asked about ankle injuries.  I was told they are very common. Ever since my second skydiving break on jump 62, I've worn braces on both ankles.

Over the last 7 years, I've heard a bunch of comments about my them. My favorite: "Are those weights?" I wear ankle braces as a precaution - just like you wear a seat belt in the car.

Could I skydive without them? Absolutely, but it can't hurt to have them on. At some point, I started wearing funky socks to cover up my braces. It's more fun to see funky socks than it is to see two clunky ankle braces.

With our first SIS event around the corner, I wanted to give each girl a small gift from me - something useful and fun. That's how I came up with the idea for SIS socks. Everyone loved my socks!

I went to Target and looked through their sock collection. Our event wasn't going to be very large - so spending $2.50 per pair didn't seem like I was going overboard.  I found 25 pairs of matching socks.

I downloaded the SIS logo from the USPA website, and made custom labels - hand cutting each one of them. I was very happy with the end result!

Our event was fun and the socks were a big hit!  Some people asked me if I ordered them from the USPA! People were surprised to discover that I had made the labels myself. That's how SIS socks began!
