Instead of celebrating Easter in a traditional way, we grabbed our gear and luggage and headed over to Richmond International Airport for the first of three flights taking us to Kona, HAWAII! We had everything packed and ready to go so our morning was low stress. We managed to leave the house around 7:45 AM.

Matt dropped me and Price off at the airport with the luggage and took the car to long term parking. We TOTALLY lucked out!  They were having a spring parking special - just $3.95 a day if you paid with cash. Awesome!

When I tried to check in using the Delta kiosk, I had a problem. The kiosk kept prompting me to pay for our luggage. I stopped the process and went to the customer service counter. With my Delta American Express card, I get to check in up to four people and each person gets one free checked bag - up to $100 in savings! Matt showed up before it was our turn at customer service. We checked our bags and headed to security.

Price was anxious about flying, but the Richmond airport is small and getting through security is a breeze! For some reason, I had a special yellow card that put me on the fast track through security, but it didn't really help much. I didn't have to take off my shoes like everyone else, but the hooks and my bra are suspicious and I got the TSA path down.

Our first flight was fast! We left Richmond at 9:44 and arrived in Atlanta before 11:30. We had plenty of time to grab sandwiches and eat before boarding the plane to LAX - the longest of our flights.

We had more time at LAX - over two hours! The three of us had dinner at  Skewers By Morimoto. Two things to say about this experience:  overpriced and not so great. At the time, I had no idea that this restaurant was opened by Iron Chef. Masaharu Morimoto. (I discovered it while I was writing about this experience) Now that I know, I am even MORE disappointed with the quality and presentation of the food. On the plus side, I we didn't get food poisoning.

I don't remember the order, but over the course of two flights, I spent time watching free movies using the Delta entertainment center.  It was awesome! Between the flight to LAX and the one over to Kona, I watched the last Hunger Games Movie, Burnt, Trainwreck, Absolutely Anything, AND Matt and I watched a movie on my tablet! Maybe I should start a section with movie reviews. You want opinions - I got them!

On the last flight, Matt and I each had a mixed drink.  I can't remember what it was, but it was yummy! Our flight arrived in Kona right around 7:45 PM. We'd been awake for a long time -  It felt like 2:00 AM for us!
