Every hour we stayed in Mississippi made us one hour later getting home.  Having driven 14 hours on Friday, I wanted to start our drive home on Saturday.  It's was physically and mentally exhausting to be in the car for 14 hours in one day.  With that said, I wasn't going to leave the DZ until Jeananne did her PMS initiation jump. If we didn't jump today, we would need to find a place to stay overnight.  The weather for Sunday was supposed to be beautiful, but then we'd be even later getting home. I tried not to think about it.  Sunset was at 5:48 PM so there was a small window of opportunity left to jump with Jeananne.

Around 4, the winds started to subside and we were able to get on a load.  I took Jeananne out to my car to pick a Barbies for the jump.  We met with Bill and discussed the skydive.  I would present each Barbie to Jeananne.  Bill would take the first one from her and then I would take back the last two.  Matt was going to come along to shoot video and Max was going to come and watch.  On the ride to altitude, Max's ear started to bleed.  After a talk with Bill, he decided to land with the plane.  So, it was just the four of us.  Matt took the camera step and I left from the inside.

Jeananne is so very tiny!  I was very thankful that Bill was holding on to her to help control her fall rate.  She's like a little tiny feather!  I managed to give her all three Barbies without a problem.  It was taking them back that was challenging.  I was struggling with the fall rate. When I'm trying to fly slow, I start potato chipping.  It makes it tough for me to do anything else.  In my mind, it took forever for me to get the Barbies back from her.  But when I watched the video later, I realized that things happen more slowly in my head.  I tracked away and put both Barbies in my left hand and deployed.  Once I was under canopy, it took me awhile to get them both stuffed down inside of my jumpsuit.  I normally just fly with my Barbie in my left hand, but I didn't want to try to flare with two of them.

Our day ended with soft landings and hugs goodbye.  Jeananne was thrilled to be our newest Pink Mafia Sister!  I'm so excited for her because she is at the beginning of a remarkable journey.  I hope she continues to have such a positive spirit and enthusiasm for the sport.  Although we live very far away, I know that I will see Jeananne again this year!

When I got home, I made a video for her.  I hope you like it too! Check it out!
