In the morning, we slept a little later than normal and had a leisurely breakfast at IHop before getting on the road for the DZ.  When we arrived at the airport before noon, we weren't sure where to go.  We grabbed our gear and started walking toward a row of hangars.  We were relieved when we spotted several people in gear.  As we entered the hangar, the DZO told us that it was going to be the last load of the day. It wasn't even noon!  Apparently, skydiving happens in the morning in the desert!  We explained that we were from Maryland and we are trying to skydive in every state. Lucky for us, Skydive Mesquite is a small drop zone.  Even though the locals were geared up and ready to go, they agreed to wait for us.

While we were rushing, a few more people showed up and wanted to do tandems.  They DZO said they'd put us on the next load.  Phew...what a relief!  We got a briefing.  If you look at the photo, you can see the airport sits on top of a plateau.  There are no outs and no grass.  The landing area is the gravel rectangle on the far left middle of this picture.

After we landed, we bought a t-shirt and thanked everyone for their hospitality.  Three states in three days!  Mission accomplished!  Skydive Mesquite - Sarah's Jump 703 - Matt's Jump 1,090  It was such a great feeling to be finished with three more states. After we left the drop zone, we stopped at a 50's themed restaurant - Peggy Sue's Diner.  The food was excellent and the waitresses were friendly.

We had two more nights before we would be flying home.  It was time to explore Red Rock Canyon!
