Sarah At Montana SignAfter I told Matt about my fall, he offered to drive. He's such an awesome husband, but I declinded his offer. Since I fell on my left side, driving wasn't really that hard. I'd be sitting down either way.

My relationship with driving continues to change. A few years ago, I grumbled about driving long distances, but now 500 miles doesn't really seem very far. It's about 8 hours of driving the speed limit.  Our total driving for today will only be 560 miles.  That's almost 200 miles less than yesterday.

As we drove, I found myself occasionally saying, "We got Montana!" Matt said we only got it because I am an excellent trip planner, but I'm starting to think that all my good karma is coming back to me in the form of cooperation from the weather gods! Four states in three days and no weather holds!

The scenery in Montana is amazing!  Matt started taking pictures. There were very few houses and it seemed like each person must own at least 1,000 acres.  Most of the land along Route 2 was covered with tall fur trees and the Kootenay River rotated from side to side. We saw people in waders fishing and I was reminded of the movie - "A River Runs Through It" (filmed in Montana).

We crossed in to Idaho and stopped at a Safeway located in Bonners Ferry.  When I got out of the car, I was stiff.  I moved much slower than I did before I fell. There would be no hopscotch or jumping jacks today!

Instead of trying to eat and drive, we decided to take a short break and eat before we started driving again. Both of us were a little disappointed because the sandwiches we got in Bonners Ferry, Idaho weren't nearly as good as the ones we'd had in Molalla, Oregon.

So far, we'd driven 112 miles.  The airport was still another 387 miles away. We got back on 95 S and headed for 90W.
