Removable CastOn Sunday, I was getting around without too much trouble. When I wasn't walking around (most of the time), I kept my foot elevated. When Monday rolled around, the cast was feeling very tight, but the doctor's office was closed.  My foot continued to swell and my toes were starting to feel weird. I called and spoke to the on call doctor. He recommended that I come in as soon as possible.

I went on Tuesday, September 7th. They removed my fiberglass cast and gave me a new one.  Check out the stock photo!  Pretty fancy! Look at all the Velcro! On the plus side, it's removable! I could take it off and get a shower/bath. On the down side, they took away my walking privileges. It was a walking cast, but the technician told me that I should use the crutches.

I was outraged! I'd been walking around for three days. You can't revoke walking privileges! I couldn't imagine going back to my crutches. I tried, but quickly decided that I was going to use the cast as a weight-bearing cast.
