Missouri SpoonAbout five miles from the DZ on I-44, we saw a travel center. Since it was so close to the highway, we stopped to see if they had a Missouri spoon.  We were also hoping they'd have one for Kansas too. No luck on Kansas, but Matt did find one for Missouri.  Awesome!!! It was 4:30 when we got back on the road to Kentucky.

When I plan our trips, I spend hours selecting drop zones and figuring out which route is best for us to travel. I do a ton of research because I need to make sure I have a backup plan for each state. There was no back up plan for Kentucky. I could only find one DZ.  Fortunately, it was located along the route home from Missouri!

Without our smart phones, there would be no way to find the other things we like - Chick-fil-A & McDonald's sweet tea. We'd just have to settle for whatever we found while we were driving. Totally loving modern technology!  We are able to locate anything we want! Matt found a Chick-fil-A along our route - about 40 minutes from the DZ.  Perfect! At 5:30, we went through the drive through and picked up some chicken strips and milk shakes. Yummy!

When I started to think about our trip, it was pretty amazing how much we'd already done. We'd only been gone from the house for three days and seven hours, but we managed to drive 1,750 miles, and skydive in four new states. I really wanted to make sure we got Kentucky, but if for some reason it didn't happen - it was okay.  We could go to Kentucky another time.

Matt called the drop zone and asked what time they would be starting - 10:30. Hmmm...that seemed a little late to get started on a Sunday, but fine with me!  At some point, we'd be losing an hour. I wasn't sure when that would happen because 1/2 of Kentucky is EST and the other part is CST. Elizabethtwon was right on the edge of the two.

While we were driving through Missouri, we saw a few Amish people. Matt managed to get a shot with his phone as we passed this gentleman.  We started discussing the Amish and wondered where they draw the line on modern conveniences.  If someone is injured, are they allowed to have surgery? Of course, Matt used his smart phone to find out. According to the Amish Illinois website, the majority of the Amish faith do not oppose the use of hospitals.

While I was driivng, Matt dozed off for awhile.  When he woke up, we had already crossed the Mississippi. We stopped on Route 60 in Paducah, KY to look for a spoon.  We were both excited because we found one at our first store! When we got back in the car it Matt took over the driving, it was approaching 10:30. Even though it was getting late, we decided to do keep driving.  I found a room at the Madisonville, Hampton Inn - roughly 90 miles away. I was surprised by the rate - I got a King room for only $99.16 (including taxes)!

Our room was perfect!  It was very clean and spacious.  We were both feeling yucky so we got hot showers before we went to bed. In the middle of the night, I woke up to use the bathroom.  When I got up, I remembered that there was a table right at the end of the bed. Unfortunately, I managed to forget about it when I was coming back and walked right into it. Ouch!!!
