Airplane picking up Geico BannerWhen I woke up, I felt great!  There were no early morning text messages and no alarming phone calls - just 10 hours of uninterrupted rest.  Yay!

After our showers, we went to the lobby for breakfast together. The breakfast was good, but not as good as the buffet at the Sheraton. While we were eating, we checked the forecast for the day. The clouds were currently around 8,000 feet, but they were supposed to clear up as the day went on. Perfect!

By the time we got to Alaska Skydiving Center, the weather was improving. Dan gave us a ride out to see the medium sized landing area. It was a bit overgrown, but it was so much better than the landing area at West Plains!

While we were waiting, Matt went out to watch an advertising plane pick up a Geico Banner. It's pretty cool.  The plane swoops in with a hook that catches the banner and lifts it into the sky.

Two fun jumpers (Barb PMS #58 & Ian) showed up and Dan put together a five way. At ASC, they have two planes. We'd be jumping from their Cessna 206. It didn't have a roll up door, but it had windows in the tail! On the climb to altitude, Barb pointed out a glacier. Wow!

After leaving from 9,500 feet, we had an interesting exit...

Freefall Alaska

And I took a second or two looking at the mountains before flying over to Dan.

All that and we still managed to get two points!  Check out our skydive!

After we landed, Tammy picked us up in the truck and drove us back to the drop zone.  We packed our rigs on a tarp outside and loaded the car. We were almost ready to leave, but I needed to take a few pictures and I had to run out to the car to get a PMS sticker for Barb. When she was initiated, they didn't have stickers.

The people at ASC are awesome and the view is amazing! The only downside - $30 for 9,500 feet. It's expensive to skydive in Alaska! We said our goodbyes and hit the road.

It was only 12:40. Could we find a bear before we went to the airport?
