I was happy to be paired up with Nick again, but I was surprised when he asked me about my previous jump.  He was with me!  How could he not remember jumping with me? Of course, my 5th jump was probably his 5,000 plus. These guys jump so many times each week it must be hard to keep track of them. I just figured that he might remember it because Lambert messed up the exit - something that supposedly doesn't happen often.

What a lucky break! I just happened to have my video in the car. I asked him if he'd like to watch it. He said sure. Afterward, he said that I have a great arch. He went on to tell me that he and Lambert can see between my back and my parachute container, and they make faces at each other. He brought up the fact that I fall fast. Is that good? He said yes. I can learn how to fall slow later. For now, I shouldn't worry about it, but I might end up jumping with a different instructor - someone that wears a slick suit.

We went on with my training. Basically, I needed to concentrate on relaxing. Isn't that a conundrum? If you are concentrating on relaxing, are you relaxing? Altitude, Arch, Legs, Relax. Again, my job was to relax. Relax. Relax.

We talked about the exit from the plane and practiced in the mockup. I'd be in the front facing the relative wind and he'd be in the rear. I'd check in with him and then begin the count. In freefall, I'd check my altitude, do my practice touches, and then try to relax. This would be my first jump with only one instructor - it would be tough to relax. Change is not particularly relaxing for me!
